The word “Har Ki Dun” means “Valley of God”. This trek got its name due to its impeccable beauty, as it appears to be similar to heaven.

Located at an altitude of 3566 meters above sea level in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It is one of the few summer treks of Uttarakhand, which provides a view of some of the majestic snow-covered peaks. Some of the most famous peaks are Swargarohini, Black Peak and Bandarpunch.

This beautiful trek starts from the quaint village and the most famous trekking base camp of India, “Sankri Village”, and it can be completed in 6 to 7 days from Dehradun. The trails of this trek will take you through some of the most beautiful landscapes.

Brahmatal Trek

The word Brahmatal means “Pond of lord Brahma”. As per the mythological stories, it is said that lord Brahma, the creator of this universe have meditated at this place during his time on earth. This place is so beautiful that even the deity has selected it to spend time.

This trek is located at an altitude of 12250 feet (3743 meters) above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Starting from Dehradun, this trek can be completed in a duration of 5 to 6 days. The actual trek will start from Lohajung village (which is the base camp for the trek) and will take you through the dense forest and snow-covered trekking routes to finally reach the Brahmatal trek and summit. Some of the most famous peaks visible from the summit are Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Chaukhamba, Kamet, and Neelkanth.

Brahmatal trek is well known as the winter trek of Uttarakhand, and the best time to visit here is from December to March.

The most famous and fascinating winter trek of Uttarakhand is the Kedarkantha trek. It is known for its summit climb and 360-degree view from the summit. It is located at an altitude of 3810 meters (12500 feet) above sea level in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

Kedarkantha trek can be completed in 5 days and 4 Nights from Dehradun. The trek will start from Sankri village, and the first halt will be at Juda ka Talab. It is an alpine lake and remains frozen during the peak winter season. Then on the next day, you will go to the Kedarkantha base camp, where you will take rest and allow your body to acclimate before your summit push to the Kedarkantha trek.

This trek is unique because it provides a similar setting to that of high-altitude mountain climbs. Most of the trekkers make the summit push at night to have a glimpse of sunrise from the summit. This trek can be completed in a duration of 5 to 6 days from Haridwar. The actual trek will start from Govindghat and will take you to the Valley of Flowers, passing through Ghangharia. In this valley, you can spot more than 600 species of wild flowers.

Most of the trekkers also visit Hemkund sahib gurudwara, which is the highest in the world, located at an altitude of 4,329 m (14,200 ft) above sea level and just at a distance of 6 to 7 Kms from this valley.

This trek can be comfortably completed in 3 to 4 days from Dehradun, while the actual trek will start from Raithal or Natin village.
